Silver medal for digital innovation in the EU for AADE

An important distinction for Greece was recorded in the field of digital innovation, with the silver medal awarded to AADE.

AADE became "silver" for the applications myDATA, timologio and appodixi , at the Conference of Tax Administrations of the European Union (TADEUS), which was commissioned for the second time in five years in Greece and took place in Rhodes, on September 15 and 16.

The Plenary of Tax Administrations (TADEUS) was launched in 2018, at the initiative of the AADE governor, Giorgos Pitsilis, with the aim of developing a long-term coordination process of tax administrations at a strategic level, as well as building joint projects, taking into account the EU and national frame.

The conference was prefaced by the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras, the Vice-President of the EU, Margaritis Schinas, the Director General of Tax and Customs Affairs of the EU, Gerasimos Thomas, and the Director of Indirect Taxation of the EU, Maria Elena Scopio

During the Conference, the heads or representatives of the 27 tax administrations discussed the future and role of taxation, establishing a common understanding and priorities for the future of national tax administrations in the EU, as well as digitalisation, challenges and successes of tax administrations.

On the first day of the conference, the leaders focused on exploring new perspectives. Through a Foresight Research workshop, major trends and future challenges were discussed, as well as the readiness of administrations for the future path.

On the second day of the conference, eleven tax administrations presented the national digital developments of the last two years of the pandemic. The three best innovative actions were awarded:

1st place, France: Foncier innovant: DGFiP’s innovative use of data and AI to fight real estate tax fraud

2nd place, Greece: myDATA, timologio, Appodixi

3rd place (tie): Italy: E-invoicing and risk analysis and Finland: Leading by goals and knowledge

The next TADEUS plenary session will be hosted by Spain, in the fall of 2023.
